About the Golden Retriever
Golden Retrievers were developed in 19th-century Scotland by Lord Tweedmouth, who crossed a yellow Retriever with the now-extinct Tweed Water Spaniel. The result was a hunting dog with a soft mouth, water-resistant coat, and unflappable temperament. Today the Golden is the gold standard for therapy and assistance work, and a perennial family favorite.
