About the American Shorthair
The American Shorthair descends from cats that sailed with European settlers to catch rats on the Mayflower and beyond. They were the original American working cat — earning their keep on farms and ships. Today they're a healthy, easygoing, medium-sized breed with a classic silver tabby look and a long lifespan.
